10 Wallets We Love That Won’t Break the Bank

Christine Burke  |  August 3, 2020

You work hard for your money, and your wallet should, too. These favorites will fit the bill (pun intended) for any budget.

We spend a lot of time discussing what’s in your wallet (and what’s not) here at HerMoney.

But, recently, our staff convo switched to our actual wallets. As in, why we love the wallets that are in our handbags. And, news flash: some of our staffers don’t even carry handbags at all. They roll with just a stylish wallet, tucked into a tote or backpack.

Since our convo was so lengthy, we realized immediately that if we had that much to say about our wallets, the women of our private HerMoney Facebook group would, too!

I asked our group members if they are still “Team Handbag For Life” or “Team Wallets Only” and they dished on what works best to keep their money safe and handy. As you can expect, they delivered an essential list of wallets that are now on all of our wish lists!

An overwhelming number of group members responded as if in chorus when it came to their favorite go-to brand of wallets: Kate Spade reigns supreme. And, for good reason: many of the commenters said they celebrated the big moments of their lives by splurging on a Kate Spade wallet or clutch. (And, if anyone needs a suggestion, this Kate Spade is bound to be my next spending accident. Ahem.)

HerMoney Staff Writer Rebecca Cohen is also Team Wallet Only and she’s a huge fan of MZ Wallace (and if her family is reading, she has her eye on this sleek wallet). HerMoney’s Editor-in-Chief, Kathryn Tuggle, also rolls with just a wallet, and sometimes even leaves the house with just her phone, thanks to this phone case that holds 4-5 essential cards of your choosing (think ID, credit card, metro card, and anything else you need on the go.)

From sleek to practical, Here’s a complete list of the wallets that got the women of HerMoney talking this week.

All in One Card Case Holder Slim Wallet With a Card Protection Strap by Leatherboss

Katy A. says, “I recently gave up my handbag, less to keep clean or worry about sanitizing from the grocery cart. I keep a slim wallet that holds my cards in my back pocket. Anytime I go to store it’s wallet, phone, keys and mask.”

Travelambo Womens Wallet RFID Blocking Bifold Multi Card Case

Emily W. says “I’ve shared the link to this with several of my friends since the slim design is wonderful. Plus, it’s so easy to find everything.”

Vera Bradley Microfiber All in One Crossbody Purse

April L. “I’ve used this wallet for a LONG time and loved it!”

Baggallini Slim Crossbody Hobo Bag

Victoria F. says “I use a small cross chest Bagalini purse that has credit card slots and a removable wristlet. My cash is in the wristlet and sometimes when on a hot date I’ll just have the wristlet which can also hold my phone. So no real wallet for me

Dooney & Bourke Clutch Wallet

Joan D. says “ I use a Dooney & Bourke black leather wallet with zipper and tons of slots. Love it. Also carry a large black Longchamp Le Pliage bag which I also love!”

Fossil Wallets

Annette W. says, I am a Fossil fan  and love my wallet – the size, color, detail, and that it matches my purse. I also love Better Life Bags – a company with a mission!

Shoe Bakery

Lauren K. “My current wallet is a card holder from Shoe Bakery — with just enough slots for the basics (three credit cards, ID, and insurance card).”

Paul Smith

Jeanette O. “I carry things that remind me of traveling (remember when we used to do that!). I carry a Paul Smith rainbow wallet from a London trip probably 15 years ago. It makes me happy.”

Perhaps our favorite wallet suggestion came from Rosie H.:My LV wallet which was my mother’s. I will always cherish it. She pursued financial independence before it was even a thing.”
